PROMINENCES LP
Looking bright, neither nostalgic nor wholly melancholic, the 4 tracks on this LP are as full of life as they are frozen in time. Prominences can last for many months just like unrealized love, opens up a core of unstable emotions, left beyond the edge of the “Sun”, alternating between peaceful rides during the solar eclipse and strong spectral lines in its emission spectrum.
Like the northern winds, Prominences blow its solar spell straight inside of your chest. Delicate resonating textures, surround you, light piano massages your brain, bells are whispering the secrets, keeping concept parts of its mystery.
Two contrasting personalities are complementary, win as a duo, meeting half way, avoiding unwanted digressions and conversations.
Tekla Mrozowicka, based in Warsaw, Poland, a versatile purveyor of ambient (but she can drone, go into harsh noise mode and has a penchant for a good beat, too) has been extremely busy with keeping her stream of sounds at bay. Her main alias is cétieu, which is an ambient-drone moniker of a multifaceted „técieu / cétieu / éctieu” project, under which she has released over a thousand minutes worth of music. In doing so, she has also happened to generate quite a buzz by striking deals with record labels from around the globe. Her efforts garnered her comparisons to Ian Hawgood, Hakobune, Steve Roach, Tim Hecker, Celer and Stephen Mathieu.
Marcin Cichy aka Meeting by Chance, best known from the Skalpel duo, recording for Ninja Tune. Marcin is a multi-talented artist from Wroclaw, Poland, an expert in the field of sound design, ambient and cinematographic sounds, involved in a number of visual and digital art projects. As Skalpel, awarded as the best Polish band by Polish Radio, in 2005 received “Paszporty Polityki”, the most prestigious cultural award in Poland; their first record was named one of the most important records of modern jazz history in Poland. Collaborated with Mira Calix, Clark and other artists from WARP, Ninja Tune records and AUKSO Orchestra or Kronos Quartet. Marcin also runs a mastering studio:
plugaudiomastering.com – where over the years he has mastered some of the Polish best selling records.
